Krafton’s decision to bring Battlegrounds Mobile India has been largely fruitful for the eSports scenario of the country. With international gaming companies focusing their market in India, the homegrown eSports organizations got a significant boost to promote electronic sports or e-sports.
One such homegrown organization is NODWIN Gaming that went ahead to host the first BGMI LAN tournament in India. It is now moving further to bring the battlegrounds on TV with the help of Star Sports. The tournament named ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India Master Series’ is scheduled to take place from July 24th and continue till 17th July.
Fans can watch this LAN event from the comfort of their homes but this time on Television during the prime time. The BGMI LAN tournament has kept prizes worth 1.5 Crore up for grabs. Even though information regarding this tournament surfaced since the previous week, the founder of NODWIN Gaming, Akshat Rathee confirmed the LAN broadcast recently-
“There have been deferred broadcasts of eSports tournaments from the US on television channels, but this is the first time an Indian eSports tournament is being broadcast live on television"
With his decision to bring eSports on TV, Akshat Rathee targets to bring new audience to the eSports scenario, a subject which was previously considered a time waste by Indian parents. According to the sources of AFK Gaming, 24 teams which are expected to be invited, are going to participate in this BGMI tournament.
NODWIN Gaming previously entered into a partnership with PVR Cinemas to bring Battlegrounds Mobile India to the nearest theatres. However, a battle-royale game being broadcasted on TV, that too on Star Sports that has the dominant market in Indian television is certainly a huge thing.
BGMI fans will definitely not miss the action that takes place from 24th July on Star Sports 2. The invitational tournament will be available in English, Hindi and Tamil.
