New technology in Modern Warfare 2 has made the streets of Amsterdam very realistic

It’s been known for some time that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be using a new engine, similar to the Warzone sequel, but now that the campaign has started early through early access, we’re starting to get an idea of what exactly it’s looking like.

A viral video showing a mission in Amsterdam is going viral on Twitter. The video is so detailed that it’s almost indistinguishable from reality, and some people are jokingly saying it looks better than it actually does in a real photo.

Some have pointed out that it’s a “Hallway” mission that just follows a pre-determined path without much heavy and intense combat. The Modern Warfare 2 mission seems to have been specifically designed to showcase the capabilities of the new technology.

One drawback is that the realism of the human characters. From movement to appearance, it doesn’t quite match the realism of their surroundings in the Call of Duty game. They aren’t terrible, but they aren’t that great either. You can find more details in the full mission video in the YouTube video above.

This is just the first game made with this new engine. It’s been a few years with this new generation of consoles and we still haven’t fully realized its potential, even games like Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing with the current technology being adopted.

The latest state-of-the-art technology makes it look perfect.  This is in contrast to the rise of the Metaverse. A recent point of contention is how poor Meta’s Horizon graphics specifically have been, even with the promise of an upgrade.
