Sentinels’ path to the playoffs is challenging but not impossible. They must win their upcoming series against FURIA with a decisive score of 2-0. By doing so, Sentinels can improve their Map differentiation and solidify their position above FURIA. Additionally, they must strive to win as many rounds as possible to improve their Round Differential, as it could be a decisive factor in the event of tiebreakers.

Currently, 100 Thieves, Furia Esports, and Evil Geniuses are sitting with scores of 4W-4L, and Sentinels have 3W-4L. Leviatán has a 4W-3L score currently. If they win against Cloud9 tonight, they will qualify for playoffs and then there will be only 2 spots. But if C9 manages to defeat  Leviatán, then the tournament will get a new life.

While Sentinels’ fate rests largely in their own hands, there are also external factors that could impact their qualification. Let’s explore some of the scenarios that could lead to Sentinels securing a playoff spot:

  1. Evil Geniuses’ Performance: If Evil Geniuses loses their next series against NRG by a score of 0-2, Sentinels will directly qualify for the playoffs due to a lower Map Differential. However, if Evil Geniuses loses by a score of 1-2, the Map Differential will be equal, and the team with a higher Round Differential will secure the playoff spot.
  2. 100 Thieves’ Loss: If 100 Thieves loses their next series against MIBR, regardless of the score (0-2 or 1-2), their Map Differential will be lower than Sentinels’. Consequently, Sentinels will qualify for the playoffs.

If all stars align together i.e. Leviatán losses both of their matches against already qualified C9 and LOUD, 100T losses to MIBR, EG losses against NRG and Sentinels manages to defeat FURIA, then 6 teams will have a 4W-5L score. Then teams with better map differential will ascend to the Playoffs.

While Sentinels’ journey to qualify for the VCT Americas Playoffs is challenging, it is not out of reach. The team needs to focus on winning their upcoming series decisively while aiming to accumulate as many rounds as possible. Additionally, they must keep an eye on the outcomes of matches involving Evil Geniuses, and 100 Thieves, as these results could impact their chances of qualification.
