China is set to host their FIRST-EVER Valorant international event, the VCT Masters 2024 in Shanghai

The Valorant eSports scene has received a lot of traction recently, with a successful VCT 2023 season. This VCT season was a box full of surprises, expected events, & dramas. This season had players leaving teams, famous organizations not performing well, and even the unfortunate passing away of Twisten. However, with all the bad came lots of good, too, with inexperienced teams demolishing players and Chinese teams ruling the show. And to further the fans’ surprise, Riot Games is going to hold the VCT Master 2024 in Shanghai, China, next year.

Although Valorant has been out for 3 years globally, the biggest country in the world didn’t have access to it. A few months back, Tencent, the parent company of Riot Games, received permission to launch Valorant in China. Moreover, Riot Games finally launched Valorant on 12th July in China. And considering how the Chinese Valorant community has missed out on loads of exclusive stuff, a lot of server-exclusive events are coming to China.

However, that’s not all of the good things the Chinese Valorant community is getting. The major eSports event held by Riot Games, the Valorant Champions Tour, or VCT, is on its way to China. The second event in the VCT 2024 calendar, the VCT Masters 2024, is going to be held in Shanghai, China. This news has left the Valorant community hyped.

Despite not having until a month ago, the Chinese Valorant eSports community has been thriving so far. Especially the Chinese VCT teams have dominated other regions’ teams so far in the VCT 2023 season. Especially Edward Gaming, the current top contender from China’s regions, has shown fabulous performance so far. And considering all these factors, Riot Games is all set to hold the VCT Masters 2024 in Shanghai, China, next year, which would be China’s first International valiant Event!

The Chinese Valorant community considers VCT Masters 2024 Shanghai a significant turning point as the game officially launched there on July 12. Shanghai also played home to China’s first offline Valorant competition earlier this month. This event served as the country’s qualifying round for Valorant Champions 2023. Whalen Rozelle, Riot Games’ COO of Esports, during the Valorant launch event on June 28, disclosed that China will also be a part of VCT. Furthermore, Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant Esports, said,

“To show our appreciation and to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Valorant in China next year, we’re very excited to bring Masters to Shanghai. 2024 will be a special year for the VCT, and we’re happy to have all of you be part of it with us.”

The VCT Master 2024 is going to be the second event in the VCT 2024 calendar. Although no information is given about the first event, which will kick-start the VCT 2024 season, fans are all the more hyped for it. Furthermore, having the next Masters in China is a really good way to celebrate the first anniversary of Valorant in China.
