Co-Op Mode for Halo Infinite has been postponed another further
Since the release of the first Halo Infinite : Combat Evolved in 2001, campaign co-op has been a fundamental aspect of the franchise. With the exception of the recently released Halo Infinite, every main series Halo game since the original has allowed co-op.
While Halo Infinite was supposed to launch with both online and split-screen co-op, 343 Industries revealed that the feature would be delayed until May 2022, when Season 2 begins. Halo Infinite co-op has now been revealed to be delayed another again.
The campaign co-op will not be accessible when Season 2 hits on May 3, according to 343 Industries. However, it is still planned to include co-op at some time throughout the season. When Halo Infinite campaign co-op is released, it will accommodate four players online and two players on split-screen, which appears to be part of the reason for the delay.

Co-Op mode of Halo Infinite delayed
While some may argue that 343 should abandon split-screen Halo co-op, this would almost certainly provoke a community uproar. As some may recall, Halo 5: Guardians didn’t offer split-screen co-op, which was a first for the main series Halo games at the time, and this caused quite a stir. As a result of the reaction, the sequel to Halo 5 was promised to enable split-screen, and 343 is quite much committed to make split-screen function in Halo Infinite.
It’s possible that ditching the older hardware might make things easier, but that’s not an option. While it is a live-service game that will likely be the only Halo game for years to come, it may make sense for 343 to create a new from the ground up for the Xbox Series X hardware that can better take advantage of the new console’s horsepower to deliver features that are more difficult to implement on Xbox One.
When co-op is introduced to the game, it will be interesting to see how well it works and if it will be incorporated before Season 2 ends. In the meantime, fans may look forward to the Halo Infinite Forge mode, which will be released later this year.
