CS: GO sees a massive boom in skin prices as AK 47 skin and knife sells for a whopping $500,000
CS: GO recently saw one of the most expensive purchases in gaming history.
Counter Strike has been always the talk of town. Simple yet elegant game mechanics has been a core foundation for CS: GO in all it’s years of existence. The game doesn’t feature any flashy moves , no collaboration, no in game skills. It’s a pure form of first-person shooter game that has defied the non conventional form of gaming that keeps getting better. That is the soul and breath of Counter Strike series.
With that said, there is a sudden surge in the prices of skins in CS for a while now. The merchandise are being sold for absolutely high prices for guns and knives. With the increasing volatility and huge profit margin, fans have witnessed transactions that have blown their minds.
March 2023 saw a sell of AK skin worth $160,000 and was considered among the highest bid of the year. But the new sale of “blue gem” is now the talk of the town for a whopping $400,000. The sale was conducted by zipeL and he saw to it that it went full and well.
Other than the AK skin the deal included a Karambit blue knife sale worth another $1.5 million. With this, it was marked as the most expensive sale in the history of Counter Strike. Streamer zipeL searched for almost 6 months for the buyer to come to an agreement of the deal. “Luksusbums” owned the skins before selling it off. The successful sale of this deal is will go down in history among the highest paid skins for a long while to come.
Why did the AK-47 CS: GO skin cost $400K?
AK-47 features pattern number 661, which is considered the best pattern for the skin, as it features the most ‘blue’ coloring. It is also the best condition version of the 661 in existence, StatTrak Minimal Wear. A StatTrak Factory New version does not exist – yet. This is also among the most sought after skins in CS:GO. The last deal of such color of blue took place about 7 years ago and fetched only around $30k. With that already into bag , this is a giant leap in indicating a high output income source for skins in gaming industry.
This skin, however, could be called one off given how special it is. Technically, the AK-47 skin costs $150,000 but what makes it expensive are the stickers. The gun barrel features not one but 4 Katowice 2014 Titan Holo. Each one costs $60k which puts it on the top of most expensive stickers in all of Counter Strike. This finally adds up to a whopping $400K. The new owner is a Chinese collector who hasn’t revealed his name as of yet. The same collector previously bought AWP Dragon lore for another $100000 and stays anonymous.
This has a lot of eyes rolling on next to be highest deals surrounding this one. With CS2 on horizon it will be worth the time to keep eye on the deals coming to light.
