The eminent streamer IShowSpeed, well known around the globe for his wild antics, has now switched sides. It is official. He is no longer a die-hard fan of the CR7 legacy. After all this time of vouching for Cristiano Ronaldo as his ‘numero uno’ fan, he has shown his true colors at the DRV PNK Stadium.

Lionel Messi argued to be the greatest footballer of all time by many, had just transferred to the MLS from the French Ligue 1. He had his debut match in the League Cup between Inter Miami and Cruz Arul on July 21st, 2023. Amongst the many top celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, who came to see the match, there was an unexpected and surprising visit. It was none other than IShowSpeed, Messi’s biggest rival’s self-acclaimed biggest fan.

Speed went to Fort Lauderdale to witness and stream Lionel Messi’s MLS debut. Unsurprisingly enough, Speed wore a Portuguese national football team shirt as an affirmation of his self-proclaimed loyalty towards Cristiano Ronaldo. He begins to stream the match by booing and trying to hate on Messi, as he always does. Then Speed would be seen asking viewers to “spam up L’s in the chat”. 

Speed constantly screamed and tried to humorously call Messi, attempting to troll him. He even teased Messi fans in the stands behind him by constantly chanting “Ronaldo” and screaming “Ronaldo is better”. With antics like these, nobody was expecting him to switch up towards the end of the game. 

After antagonizing Messi fans and trying to promote Ronaldo throughout the game, the game nears the 90th minute. The game was nil at 1-1, and just in the 93rd minute, a 25-yard opportunity ascended for a free-kick. Who other than Messi would be picked to kick it? At this moment, Speed can be seen gaining hype from the crowd and the atmosphere itself. 

Speed said before the free kick, “If Messi scores this free kick, I’m a Messi fan, Wallahi”. As Messi did the unthinkable, Speed was stunned but kept his word as he removed his Portugal shirt to reveal the Argentina star’s Inter Miami jersey that he wore underneath. Fans were laughing and screaming at this reaction from Speed. 

Fans react to IShowSpeed acknowledging the GOAT Messi

All this came after the sensational internet meet-up between Ronaldo and Speed back in June. The Instagram post Speed posted of them together had become the most-liked picture by a YouTuber ever. It truly was a legendary link-up, as Speed had been fanboying over Ronaldo for almost a year, and the two were an iconic duo. To see him now support Messi was different, but at the end of the day, he is an internet personality, and it made for a good meme.
