When Elden Ring first came out, players and critics were both blown away by the intricate and detailed world that From Software had created. This world, filled with lore mixed with gameplay that is both accessible and challenging, made Elden Ring 2022’s Game of the Year. 

The storytelling in Elden Ring is one of From Software’s more linear versions of storytelling. However, it still leaves a lot up to interpretation. It does so by clouding certain characters and concepts in mystery. This has led to theories as to where the anticipated DLC for Elden Ring could take the story. 

Fans will be pleased to know that From Software has just announced a new DLC for Elden Ring. The DLC is called ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ and it has been announced to be in development.

Shadow of the Erdtree: What we know so far

While not much is known about Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, From Software released the concept art for the DLC in a Twitter post on Tuesday. Players are already coming up with theories about what the upcoming DLC might hold. 

Some speculate that the DLC might explore the game’s most mysterious character, Miquella. Miquella is the twin to Malenia, the toughest boss in the entire Soulsborne series. Miquella was a character that we did not actually see in-game, except for his hand.

Ever since the release of Elden Ring, players have theorized about the game exploring Miquella and his position in the world of Elden Ring down the line. And now, it might be coming true. Since the DLC is called Shadow of the Erdtree, people speculate it will deal with the Haligtree. The Haligtree is hugely associated with Miquella and Malenia, and can be considered the Shadow of the Erdtree.

However, this is all just speculation right now as From Software has only released one single image about the DLC. The DLC is still in development and doesn’t have a release date yet. Regardless, fans will eagerly be waiting for any updates regarding the DLC.

Players are excited to jump back into the world of Elden Ring and try out new weapons, questlines, and bosses that the DLC will bring.
