Elden Ring is also a game rich with lore and fascinating concepts. From the Erdtree to the Elden Beast, the game makes a world worth exploring. However, From Software has a history of leaving certain things up to interpretation, especially in the Soulsborne series.
Elden Ring was no different. With the game having 6 confirmed endings and other endings still under investigation, the story of Elden Ring really hasn’t ended.
From Software confirmed this in a tweet on Tuesday, announcing a brand new DLC for Elden Ring. The DLC is called ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ and it is confirmed to be in development at From Software.
The news comes on the heels of Elden Ring’s one-year anniversary, with this being a treat to the fans who have shown love to the game over the past year.
Shadow of the Erdtree: Release date and details
So far, Elden Ring has only released one DLC apart from the constant patches and bug fixes. This was the Colosseum multiplayer update, which was released on December 7, 2022. However, despite the confirmation, fans have yet to hear about a confirmed release date for the DLC.
Ever since the announcement, fans have been theorizing about what the DLC holds in form of content, weapons, and storylines. While some fans theorize that the DLC might take place after the events of Elden Ring, some speculate it might deal with events before the events of the main game.
The much anticipated DLC was announced with one single concept image depicting the potential setting for the DLC. The image depicts an alternate version of the Erdtree, covered in black rather than its usual gold. Players also caught a figure with blond hair in the artwork, riding atop Torrent, our mount in the game.
Some players theorize it could be Miquella, the elusive demigod who is present all over Elden Ring’s lore, despite us never seeing them in a physical form. Meanwhile, other players theorize that the figure could be Queen Marika, the central character in the game.
Despite no confirmed release date, the players are already excited about what DLC may hold. Fans will be on the lookout for any updates on the highly anticipated DLC.
