The Fortnite Creative mode allows players to use their vast imagination and create incredible custom maps (known as islands) in Fortnite, like recreating Five Nights at Freddy’s in Fortnite. Epic Games recently added the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) using the Unreal Engine. This has resulted in an explosion in the number of possibilities.

Unfortunately, Epic Games giving players free rein over what they can do has resulted in inappropriate creations. The game recently witnessed a surge in racist creations made through the Unreal Editor in Fortnite. This included not only maps but also various depictions of stereotypical caricatures of minorities.

Many Fortnite players took this discrimination a step further. Recently, many clips of Fortnite map trailers have started going viral on Twitter. These trailers involve several shirtless African men wearing gold chains. They were dancing to tribal music while holding the Fortnite map code in their hands.

Epic Games announced they would remove maps violating the Fortnite Creative Code of Conduct. They have already removed over a hundred maps from the Discovery menu. The developers will continue to do so as they identify and receive complaints of more such situations.

Fans were glad to see Epic Games taking such prompt action in order to make Fortnite a more inclusive gaming community. However, many have asked how such maps were published in the first place. This has called for harsher approval processes for getting one’s map made available publically.
