Fortnite Competitive explained what the Lightning Cup is all about in a series of tweets. By next week, they claim, the game will include two Lightning Cup events. The first will take place on March 15th, while the second will take place on March 17th.

The Lightning Cup, on the other hand, will not feature the typical prize pool. Epic Games appears to be testing the waters with this mode initially.

The tournaments slated for Chapter 3, Season 2 will, on the other hand, continue to run as planned.

In the Lightning Cup, new formats are expected to be implemented. The “Best Of” and “High Score” formats are also new to competitive. The concepts were broken down on their Twitter account, and what it essentially indicates is that the number of eliminations is large.

“Best of” – Only your top five matches out of seven will contribute toward the Leaderboard.

“High Score” – The only match that counts towards the Leaderboard is your best match in the last 2 hours.

Teams must win a Victory Royale and a large number of eliminations to earn a spot on the Leaderboard. As a result, it’s safe to expect that the matches in this Fortnite competition will be difficult and exhausting for the participants.
