The Esports industry has shown unprecedented growth over the past few years. Thus, it is no surprise that more organizations are being formed and joining the competitive video game landscape every year. This is great for Esports overall, as it provides more opportunities for the players and creates more entertaining tournaments for viewers to enjoy.

Valorant has one of the most competitive Esports scenes in the world right now. It has won the Best Esports Game Award twice in a row. Although three years old, Valorant tournaments pull more views than many established Esports games. Riot Games has been working hard to improve the landscape, adding an updated longer schedule alongside affiliate teams.

Many established football clubs have also entered the eSports scene. Manchester City and PSG are two clubs that have many eSports teams on their rosters. PSG sports teams in a variety of games, such as Rocket League, Dota 2, League of Legends, and EA Sports FC 24.

FC Barcelona joins Valorant Challengers Spain 2024

FC Barcelona is set to be the next team to enter the Valorant scene. The Spanish team is no stranger to eSports, participating in several games as part of their Barca Games initiative. They had a stellar Rocket League roster before it dissolved and continue to run their League of Legends and PES teams. They have also previously participated in games by Riot in the LoL LVP Superliga 2024.

Last month, several rumours suggested that FC Barcelona wanted to join the Valorant Challengers Spain 2024 tournament. On December 21st, 2023, FC Barcelona officially confirmed their entry into the upcoming online tournament. The Catalonian side will play against seven other teams for the VCS Title.

Juli Guiu, vice president of FC Barcelona, commented that entering the Valorant eSports scene was a natural step for the club. He mentioned that this was an excellent chance for the Barcelonian club to explore new opportunities and reach new audiences. No information is known about their roster for the upcoming tournament. They are currently fielding for the team; fans will see them in action with the Valorant Challengers 2023 from January 15, 2024.
