FIFA 23 is fast approaching, and fans wish it would approach faster. We are only around a couple of weeks away from its release. The new game is scheduled for release on September 30, and 3 days earlier on September 27 for those people who have early access through purchase of the Ultimate Edition.
FIFA 23 ratings were recently leaked around 2 weeks ago due to an error made by EA which allowed Xbox One users to enter the game and actually play it for a short period of time. FIFA 23 ratings were leaked in this way, and yesterday the top 23 ratings in FIFA 23 were officially announced by EA. There were barely any differences between the leaked and official ratings. Messi vs Ronaldo in FIFA 23: Who is the Better Player?
After witnessing the leaked FIFA 23 ratings earlier, we could see that both Messi and Ronaldo received some pretty massive downgrades in the game. Although EA later revealed that all the leaked ratings weren’t official and could be subject to change, that is not the case. The official ratings unveiled by EA on September 12 revealed that there was no change in the downgraded ratings of the two star players of the past decade.
Messi edges ahead of Ronaldo in the overall ratings. Messi shares the top spot for ratings along with other stars who are Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Benzema and Lewandowski. Messi has a rating of 91 OVR, just one rating above Ronaldo’s rating of 90. This is the general differentiation, and does not reflect who is more useful in FIFA 23 as even highly rated players may not be as useful as lower-rated players with more pace, agility, etc.
In FIFA 23, Messi and Ronaldo have a downgraded pace of 81, but they achieve it in very different ways. Messi has a very high acceleration (87), but suffers from a low sprint speed of only 76. Ronaldo suffers from acceleration (79), but makes up for this with his 83 sprint speed. However, the pace of both of these players are not enough to play with comfortably.
Shooting is comfortably won by Ronaldo, 92 to 89, due to Messi losing three points in this section from last year. Ronaldo was downgraded as well by a single point but still has enough to beat out his nemesis. The war of odds is won by passing and dribbling. Messi has 90 passing ability and 94 dribbling. These numbers blow Ronaldo’s 78 and 85 respectively out of the water.
The last stat to look at, Physical, belongs to Ronaldo. However, many would feel his 75 rating is too low for this category. Jumping (95) is the only impressive stat. Endurance and strength are in the mid-70s, which means Ronaldo will tire relatively quickly in FIFA 23. If you think it’s tough to be Ronaldo in FIFA 23, it’s a whole new situation for Messi. The PSG forward has a low physical rating of 64, 68 strength, and 70 stamina. These staggeringly low stats make it very difficult to play Messi in FIFA 23.
Therefore, it can be concluded that Ronaldo is somewhat better than Messi in FIFA 23, only due to his physical condition. A real life comparison of the two will be a whole other debate. Both Messi and Ronaldo will be needing various upgrades to their cards through events and SBCs to get them to being back amongst the fan favorites in the game, because it is very difficult otherwise and we can actually start to see the unwanted ending of the Messi vs Ronaldo era.
