“Eager to push everyone out,” former Graphic Designer compares the treatment he received when laid off by The Guard to being laid off by 100 Thieves
Former Graphic Designer at The Guard, George H. Nowack, compares the treatment he received when laid off by The Guard and how he was cared for when he was laid off by 100 Thieves.
George H. Nowack (L) was treated awfully by The Guard
Sources recently revealed that The Guard, an LA esports organization, has let every single employee go. According to sources, during an all-hands meeting, everyone in the company was fired.
Later, other Tweets from former workers verified this. And now, Graphic Designer @nowackdesign (George H. Nowack) has compared being laid off by 100 thieves to being laid off by The Guard.
Graphic Designer, Nowack, opens up about the disrespectful treatment he faced by the HR team at The Guard
Every single employee at The Guard, including managers and managers’ managers, has been fired, according to the (former) head of merchandise. The content team, social team, talent relations, and creative team are included in this. Even The Guard players appeared surprised by the information.
Halo, Apex Legends, and VALORANT all have teams run by The Guard. The Guard is also the umbrella group for the Los Angeles Gladiators of the Overwatch League and the Los Angeles Guerrillas of the Call of Duty League.
@nowackdesign opened up about the treatment he received by the HR department at The Guard when he was fired, and compared it to the treatment received when he was let go by 100 Thieves (and the difference is shocking).
The former Graphic Designer for both the organizations said that when he was laid off at 100 Thieves, the HR team over there helped him land another job and offered him advice as well. However, the treatment he received at The Guard was a polar opposite. The HR team at The Guard were eager to just get him out the door without showing the slightest bit of bother.
This treatment is not just specific to Nowack, but plenty of other employees who have all been treated disrespectfully. The situation The Guard is currently knee-deep in is very serious and it is still unclear as to what the esports organization is going to do to act on it.
