SquishyMuffinz is the most iconic Rocket League professional of all time. He first picked up the game in beta over ten years ago and has been a professional player since the third season of the Rocket League Championship Series. After a long, illustrious career in the Esport, SquishyMuffinz has officially announced his retirement from the professional Rocket League.

The Canadian professional was making Rocket League content even before his professional debut. Since his first appearance on the scene, SquishyMuffinz has awed fans and commentators because of his deep understanding of game mechanics. He teamed up with his friends Torment and Gimmick to form ‘The Muffin Men’. The team placed first in nearly every LAN event for an entire year.

Their stellar first-place performance in Dreamhack Atlanta left everyone so impressed that the team was signed by Esports giant Cloud9. The team did the impossible when they beat 4-time world champion Turbopolsa and the most dominant Rocket League team to date, Dignitas, in the world championship finals of Rocket League Championship Series 6.

SquishyMuffinz also performed an incredible ceiling shot in the Season 6 group stage. This shot is still considered one of the most impressive in RLCS history. Unfortunately, after their world championship victory, it was mostly downhill for the pro. After placing last in the RLCS 8 group stage, Cloud9 dropped the team,, stating they were no longer interested in the professional Rocket League.

SquishyMuffinz soon found himself on the talented NRG Esports roster. The team even won the North American Championship in RLCS X. However, the next year, the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals in the global championship. NRG didn’t even qualify for the world championship the following year. Amidst dissatisfaction, SquishyMuffinz decided to leave the team in mid-2023.

The Canadian pro took to Twitter on January 17th, 2024, to announce his retirement. In a long tweet, SquishyMuffinz thanked his fans and the pros he got to play alongside. While he planned to play the remaining season in its entirety, he said he would leave after the first out of three splits. He wanted to enjoy the game without the stress of competing, as he had already accomplished his goal of winning the World Championship alongside the Season X NA championship and four major LAN tournaments.

SquishyMuffinz expressed dissatisfaction with the current Rocket League Championship Series format. Instead, he said he would focus all his energy on content creation from now on. Lastly, he added that he was bringing the old gang of Torment and Gimmick back together. In a poetic end, SquishyMuffinz would play his last season under ‘The Muffin Men’ banner.
