Fortnite New Year Event: Date, changes and more

Fortnite players can expect to see a mini in-game event to celebrate the start of the new year in 2023. While this event will not be a traditional “event” with its own lobby and interactive elements, it will still be a fun showcase for players to enjoy.
When the clock strikes midnight in the Eastern Time Zone on January 1, 2023, a giant disco ball will appear through a rift in the sky. This will signal the start of the countdown to the new year. When the timer final ends, the event will begin.
During the countdown, all players on the map will receive the Boogie Bomb effect and will be unable to use any items, weapons, or mechanics. They will simply be able to walk around the map and dance for a few seconds. This is to celebrate the unique nature of the game and its fan base. This is a great move by Fortnite to symbolise the beginning of a new yar in a wholesome way.
As the countdown ends, fireworks will be displayed in the background and the disco ball will burst open, releasing a giant firework. Finally, a giant Loot Llama will appear in the sky with the number “2023” written next to it, signaling the end of the event. Fortnite has not teased any new cosmetics or collaborations in the game so far for the event.

What to expect in Fortnite New Year Event 2023?

While Epic Games has not officially announced this Fortnite New Year event, it can be assumed that it will take place based on its presence in the game files. However, players in certain regions may see the event at odd times, such as mid-day, depending on their location.
As for free gifts, it is unlikely that players will receive any special items or cosmetics to celebrate the new year. However, active Crew subscribers will unlock the next stage of the Photonic and Zen Legacy Sets on January 1, 2023.
Players should also make sure to claim all Winterfest 2022 gifts from the Cozy Lodge before January 3, 2023, and the Guff Gringle skin from the Item Shop. These freebies can act as a small celebration of the new year.
Overall Fortnite is not going to create a massive ruckus this year. Rather they will celebrate it quite slowly and instead will make the game more inclusive for the players.
