The upcoming Genshin Impact 2.7 update named Hidden Dreams in the Depths had been postponed owing to the Covid-19 crisis in China. The update was supposed to release on May 11th making Yelan and Kuki Shinobu as playable characters. A recent questionable leak has surfaced in the sub Reddit community of the game stating that the update might be shortened.

Every patch of Genshin Impact lasts for 42 days with a division of phases after an interval of 21 days. However, it appears that the Genshin Impact 2.7 update might be shortened so that future patches could be released on their scheduled dates.

The current update of Genshin Impact has been extended for an undisclosed period of time and the developers have already released the events for the third phase of the 2.6 update. As an exact date for the 2.7 special program or the release of the new patch has not been provided, players are wondering whether the duration of the update will be reduced.

An unverified leak uploaded on the sub Reddit community states that the data miner had a conversation with a technician who said some data might be missing from the Genshin Impact 2.7 update which implies the update has been shortened. One of the possible reasons for this could be that HoYoverse doesn’t want to disrupt the future update schedule.

If the Genshin Impact 2.7 update is indeed shortened then players might not be able to see all the character banners that was leaked from the promo art of the update. The following characters will apparently appear in the character banner as per leaks-

HoYoverse could release the banner of Yelan and Arataki Itto together as Kuki Shinobu is most likely to appear on Itto’s banner. However, nothing can be confirmed as of now. The events that are scheduled for the update could also be removed or shortened a bit but players need to wait for official confirmation.

The 2.8 update of Genshin Impact is probably going to bring back the Golden Archipelago region which needs to be launched during summer.
