Genshin Impact 2.8 update 2.8 update features
HoYoverse today announced the maintenance schedule for bringing the Genshin Impact 2.8 update also known as the ‘Summer Fantasia’. The upcoming patch’s features have also been announced providing players a brief description on the things they should look forward to in this update.
The last patch where players get to see a character from Inazuma, the Genshin Impact 2.8 update is going to be special since it is marking the return of the long anticipated Golden Apple Archipelago islands.

Genshin Impact 2.8 update schedule
The Genshin Impact 2.8 update is going to release on 13th July which is also the date when Kazuha and Klee rerun banners will be added in the character event wish. The developers will be pushing out the update at 06:00 (UTC+8) where the maintenance is estimated to take at least 5 hours.
Following this maintenance, players will be provided with 300 primogems as a compensation for keeping the game servers down during this period of time. It is important to note that Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 5 or above before the update release date will be able to claim the compensation.
Patch notes
The 2.8 update will be available on both Google Play Store and iOS. It is launching for PC on the same day as well. Players will be liable to download the resources before they jump into the update that consists of the following additions and changes-
Limited Time Area
The Golden Apple Archipelago islands are returning in the Genshin Impact 2.8 update. However, there are some pre-requisites that should be met to unlock the area
- Reach Adventure Rank 32 or above
- Complete the Archon Quest “Chapter II: Prologue – Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves”
- Complete Mona’s Story Quest “Astrolabos Chapter: Act I – Beyond This World’s Stars”
New character
A new Anemo character with 4-star rarity is making its way to the game. Shikanoin Heizou, the detective of Tenryou commission will apparently be the last Inazuman playable character. What is more interesting to note is that he is the first male catalyst user in the game.
New Equipment
A new sword in the game named Cursed Blade will be given for free in the 2.8 update. This weapon has been considered as the signature weapon for Kazuha but players have to find it out for themselves. This weapon will be provided as a reward in Kazuha’s story quest.
New Events
Summertime Odyssey
As the Genshin Impact 2.8 update is focused on Summer, players will be able to see a new event named the Summertime Odyssey. During the event, players have to complete the specified tasks in “Surfpiercer” and “Phantom Realms” to obtain rewards such as Primogems. After completing the “Phantom Realms” challenges, players can obtain Iridescent Flotsam which can further be used to get Fischl.
New outfits
Another interesting aspect of this patch is that players will be able to get new skins for Fischl and Diluc. The latter’s outfit named ‘Red Dead of Night’ will be available for purchase in the shop for genesis crystals whereas Fischl’s outfit ‘Ein Immernachtstraum’ can be obtained for free.

- New limited-time World Quests: “The Treasure of the Four Skerries,” “Thus Was the Work Done in Vain,” “Treasure Voyage,” “The Final Treasure,” “Drama Phantasmagoria: Tale of the Sword-Wielding Princess!,” “Bake-Danuki Wanderlust,” “The Misplaced Photo,” “The Discarded Insignia,” and “A Misplaced Conch.”
- New World Quest: “Film Notes.”
The Genshin Impact 2.8 update will also reset the Spiral Abyss providing Pyro DMG bonus to the characters during the first phase. Some optimizations have been made and bugs removed to give players a smooth gaming experience.
