Genshin Impact 3.1 update patch notes: Desert area, new characters and everything new released

Fans can now celebrate the second anniversary of Genshin Impact as HoYoverse has update the content of the 3.1 update, also known as ‘King Deshret and the Three Magi’ patch. Here we take a look at the patch notes to explore the new area and characters added to the game.

The maintenance for the new update has finally concluded after the servers were down for 5 hours. Players can claim their compensation via in-game mail and download the resources to enjoy the new content.

Genshin Impact 3.1 patch notes released by HoYoverse

As the Genshin Impact 3.1 update celebrates the second anniversary, it is an obvious fact that a lot of new content will be available in the game in different phases. HoYoverse had shortened the patch by a week but that does not imply that there will be any shortage of content.

New Area

Sumeru’s long-awaited desert area will finally be available in the 3.1 update and interestingly, players won’t have to complete any pre-requisite quests. New areas such as Hypostyle Desert, Land of Lower Setekh, and Land of Upper Setekh will expand the map of Sumeru adding more daily commissions.

New characters

A total of three new characters have been added in the Genshin Impact 3.1 update which will be available in different phases. The first two characters with different rarities are already available in the game whereas the third character will be available in the second phase.

• Candace (Hydro)
• Nilou (Hydro)

New Domains

Naturally, new areas will imply the addition of new domains that can help the players to collect artifacts, ascension materials and other crucial resources in the game.

• Garden of Endless Pillars (Adventure Rank 24)
• Altar of Mirages (Adventure Rank 28)
• Red Desert Threshold (Adventure Rank 32)

As mentioned before, the Genshin Impact 3.1 update will add six new weapons to the game with different rarities. Most of them can be obtained from weapon banners whereas one weapon can be claimed for free.

• Missive Windspear

New enemies

The new content has also brought new enemies that will help players to obtain materials required for the ascension materials of Cyno, Candace as well as Nilou.

• Aeonblight Drake (Ardravi Valley)
• Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network (Hypostyle Desert)
• Primal Construct: Prospector, Reshaper, and Repulsor
• Eremite Stone Enchanter and Eremite Galehunter

Some new optimizations and QoL changes have also been made to the update. Players should remember to claim the compensation primogems as well as the new anniversary rewards.
