Rockstar Games’ message signals potential GTA 6 announcement

Fans positive on an early GTA 6 reveal as Rockstar Games appreciates its developers
The message thanked more than 5000 developers working on the game

GTA 5 and its multiplayer expansion GTA Online are one of the best selling video games of all time, selling around 169,000 copies since its release in 2013, only falling behind Minecraft. But fans have been waiting for a long time for GTA 6, as it has now been almost a decade since the previous installment came out.

The game has been long confirmed to be in development by the Rockstar Games, even shelving remasters of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption in the past in order to ensure quality work on the upcoming game, and to prevent releasing a lackluster remaster similar to the GTA Trilogy remake.

Leaks have also revealed that the game could be returning to Vice City, and for the first time in the game’s history, there might be a playable female protagonist in the game as the main characters are rumoured to be based off of Bonnie and Clyde.

The message on Rockstar Games’ site thanking all the developers who worked on the games over the years made fans wonder if this meant a potential end of work on GTA Online and if it signals an early reveal of GTA 6. However, some fans remained skeptical, saying this was just a simple thanks and that the end isn’t in sight for probably another decade.

Some fans do fear the game not living up to expectations, as the current political and social environment may not allow the tongue-in-cheek satirical humour the franchise has come to be known for, as many jokes deemed offensive were deleted in the current gen re-releases of GTA V.

Whether GTA 6 is going to be revealed is a question that can be answered only by Rockstar Games. Fans still remain hopeful, and rumours point to at least some visuals of the game being made public before the end of the year. All that the fans can do is wait and watch.
