GTA 6 test footage leaked, confirms previously rumoured details

GTA 6 test footage leaked, confirms previously rumoured details

The leak comes from a user on GTAForums

GTA 6, Rockstar Games’ next addition to the storied action-adventure franchise, had barely any details about it privy to the public till now, most of the things coming out about the game being rumours.

All this changed when a user by the name ‘teapotuberhacker’ posted several clips, alleging them to be footage from GTA 6’s testing build, and saying he might leak more footage and source code of GTA 5 & 6 in the future.

Leaked data confirms GTA 6 returning to Vice City

The game’s two protagonists might have the names, Jason and Lucia.

Although met with initial scepticism, these leaks seem legitimate to a majority of their viewers. According to the leaker, the videos were found by him through a hack in the company’s internal communications on Slack. Although many people claimed the footage was fake as it had reused many assets from GTA 5, others quickly pointed out that even early GTA 5 footage also had some assets from GTA 4.

The new footage confirms the game to be returning to Vice City, a parody version of the real-life city of Miami, Florida. The footage also confirms the rumours of GTA 6 having two playable characters, a man and a woman. The characters’ names are also seen in the footage, the couple being named Jason and Lucia, however, these might be placeholder names, being changed by the time the game comes out.

Other things confirming details about GTA 6 in the footage are buildings bearing the city’s name on them, police cars with the letters “VCPD” (probably standing for Vice City Police Department) as well as a major chunk of test footage showing gameplay from a heist mission, in which the duo rob some kind of a restaurant at gunpoint, following them getting surrounded by cops.

The test footage seems to be from some time ago, with the fame being run at 720p on a dated GeForce GTX 1080, but this could also be footage from rockstar trying to optimise their game for older hardware. The footage has created tons of hype among fans as this is the first major look at the game’s gameplay and mechanics.
