GTA Online players claim event is rigged after Rockstar Games’ announcement
Rockstar Games had announced this battle between the soda brands recently, asking fans to join the crew of whichever brand they support and then drink as many cans as they can of their chosen fizzy drink, each of the actions counting as a vote in their camp’s favour.
However, when a tweet from Rockstar’s official account announced eCola to be in the lead, it left a bad taste in many of the fans’ mouths. eCola holds the lead despite the official Sprunk outnumbering the eCola crew by 2 to 1, with eCola’s crew having 65,087 members compared to Sprunk’s 154,954 members.
Players were shocked how even with twice the members in their ranks, eCola was holding the lead in the event. Many were in disbelief, claiming that Rockstar was lying to their fans, and even going as far as saying that the GTA Online event had been rigged in eCola’s favour.
According to Rockstar votes will be counted by tallying the number of members in each crew, the number of branded bodysuits claimed by users and the number of cans consumed by each team’s players. Some players were quick to point out that according to the Rockstar Newswire, drinks consumed through the weapon wheel will not be counted in the final count.

Players will still try to push towards grasping the lead in the last 24 hours of the event, as apart from bragging rights, all players will receive a hat, varsity jacket and parachutes bearing the winning beverages motif. As a part of the event, Rockstar also made numerous clothing items as well as vehicle customisations free for GTA Online players to show their loyalty in-game.
