Gucci and Faceit reveal Gucci Gaming Academy with primary focus on mental health wellbeing
Luxury house Gucci in collaboration with esports tournament organiser FACEIT, announced a gaming academy to endorse the mental health well-being of their players and eSports professionals.
The news was announced in the form of a YouTube video named ‘The Bellhop’ which featured a plethora of veteran CS:GO players which might have been a tease of their association with the brand.
The Gucci Gaming Academy comes into play!
Gucci, one of the most popular luxury clothing brands to ever exist, has had a huge sphere of influence over the world for the longest time, with the brand being synonymous with richness and the epitome of luxury.
Faceit on the other hand are one of the biggest esports tournament organizers on the planet boasting over 22 million registered players on their platform. The platform hosts small and big tournaments alike for people to practice amongst themselves as well as professional level tournaments.
Faceit also has a huge popularity amongst the pro players of CS:GO with one of the best players of the scene, Zywoo, saying that he never goes into deathmatches for practices, only Faceit.
Gucci, on May 23rd, uploaded a video on their YouTube page titled “The Bellhop | Gucci Gaming Academy” which featured a ton of CS:GO veterans in various different roles. The video followed a bellhop being taught the ins and outs of the hotel that was the FPL. A fitting metaphor to say the least.
The academy will be focused not only on the betterment of the player’s skill in game, but also their mental and physical well being taking a step in the right direction. They have said that the procedure by which they will be choosing the players who get into their academy will be on the basis of the player’s in-game skills followed by interviews which will assess the player’s values and skills.
Once the players are accepted into the academy, they shall be a part of the academy for a period of 12 months unless they are officially signed by a pro team.
The first four players to be inducted into the Gucci Gaming Academy are Brajan “DGL” Lemecha (Poland), Lukasz “mwlky” Pachucki (Poland), Rokas “EspiranTO” Milasauskas (Lithuania) and Mārtiņš “shadiyy” Gūtmani (Latvia) with more players to join the academy soon
This move by Gucci will surely encourage more and more brands to get involved with the esports industry bringing the global scene into a better limelight than it was in before.
