A Thief in the Night is such a type of side quest. You will meet the owner of the Irondale Hamlet Store, Padraic Haggarty. When you interact with him, he will reveal that someone has stolen his precious Trinket.

You can use Irondale Floo Flame to travel there faster. You will see Padriac mumbling something there. Players need to level up to level 20 before taking on this side quest. Also, you should keep in mind that you need to investigate the crime during the night. It’s a very Sherlock Holmes-isk side quest where you have to follow some clues to find the burglar.

A Thief in the Night Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy

After conversing with Padraic Haggarty, you will get to know that a thief has been stealing things from his stall during the night including his family heirloom. Padraic believes the priceless relic was stolen by his sister Catrin. You have to look into the situation at night in order to identify the robber.

After reaching the area at the night, you need to cast the Revelio spell. It will highlight your surroundings. You will see a trail of coins from Padraic’s stall. You can either collect these coins and gain XP you can just fly on your broom or other mounts to speed up things. However, you will collect a good amount of Galleons by the end of the trial if you do collect coins. The trail passes through a few Goblins Camps. You can destroy these strongholds if you want to. After fighting the goblins, cast Revelio to highlight all the loot in the goblin camp.

The trail will later take you to a Niffler‘s den. Now, firstly, you need to get Padraic’s family heirloom which is located atop the rocks just above the Niffler’s treasure. Just climb up there and retrieve the heirloom. After collecting Padraic’s family heirloom, you need to catch the Niffler with the help of Nab Sack. Uneven terrain makes this rescue operation a bit hard.

After collecting the heirloom and catching Niffler, head back to Irondale to finish the side quest. Padraic was startled to learn that a beast could steal his possessions. You’ll receive a Niffler mask and 180 XP and the Galleons which you collected through the trail.
