Many players in Hogwarts Legacy may be baffled by the Key of Admittance puzzle. You will eventually come to an area close to the headmaster’s office as you explore the castle. A mysterious door with numerous locks is present, but you can’t seem to open it. Finding the key to admission can be hard, as Hogwarts Castle isn’t a small place. On top of that, finding which particular lock your key fits is a task in itself.

Before you take on this side quest, you need to complete ‘The Man Behind the Moon’ side quest to unlock the Alohomora spell. In addition to that, you also need to complete the ‘Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial’ main quest. The headmaster’s office is not accessible to students; however, it becomes accessible after completing’Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial’ in the main story.

In order to get the key you need to head to the Headmaster’s office. It is located at the tallest tower behind the Grand Staircase, on the other side of the castle from where the Quidditch field is located. You can go there using your broom or your mount whichever one you like. You can also fast-travel to Trophy Room Floo Flame in the Grand Staircase.

After climbing the spiral stairs, you will see Headmaster’s Upper Study. This will be locked with a level III Alohomora lock. After unlocking this room using the Alohomora spell, you will unlock the ‘Room with a View’ achievement. You can see the Key of Admittance on the desk of the Headmaster. It will be on the right of the fireplace.

There is a lock very close by that the Key of Admittance fits. Players should take the spiral stairs back down to the Headmaster’s Office. Players can use the Key of Admittance to unlock the locked door at the other end of the hallway. After entering the room, you will see another spiral staircase and a big chest. You will get gear for opening this chest.

Players will discover a cool secret at the top of the stairs: a room with the Book of Admittance, which magically records the names and dates of birth of kids who have enough magic to enroll in Hogwarts. It’s simply one of many references to Wizarding World mythology that Hogwarts Legacy offers its players. Players can check the two chests nearby for the gear they can upgrade or sell to gain more Galleons.
