With a wide range of various skins, attachments, and even the number of firearms that players can use, the Call of Duty series has always placed customization at the core of its gameplay. With that being said, Modern Warfare 2 has brought back the Akimbo pistols.

Every weapon in this game has the potential to be improved further. The most deadly enhancement a handgun might have is a Dual Wield, often known as an Akimbo. Therefore, using this attachment will effectively double the number of magazines and damage for a pistol. When Warzone 1 first launched, some common loadouts had players carrying Akimbo Renettis and even Akimbo Diamattis. The lethal combination of two pistols allowed players to fire rapidly and instantly take out opponents. But the interesting thing is while wielding Akimbo pistols, you cannot use Aim Down Sights (ADS).

Unlock Akimbo pistols in Modern Warfare 2

In Modern Warfare 2, there are five different pistols that can be unlocked. Each pistol has a unique set of attachments that can be used with the other weapons. The akimbo attachments, however, require that each weapon have its unique version unlocked. That means you’ll need to grind through each of the five pistols if you want Akimbo on them all. The Akimbo attachment is a part of the Rear Grip options on all handguns. It is connected to the level of the weapon. Because of this, it is rather simple to unlock, however, this attachment frequently remains locked until the completion of the leveling process. But you can get the Rear Grip item you require with an XP booster and some grinding on Shipment.

The level Requirements for each pistol :

  • P890 – Weapon Level 26
  • .05 GS – Weapon Level 17
  • Basilisk – Weapon Level 28
  • X12 – Weapon level 19

X13 is synergistic with X12. Leveling up X12 to 19 will auto-unlock Akimbo for X13.

There are downsides to using Akimbo too. Accuracy takes a great hit in long-range duels. So, you should fight enemies in close range when using Akimbo pistols in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. You should test out the Akimbo pistols in a private match before using them in a serious match. Currently, P890 is the best dual-wield option in MW2.
