Is Minecraft Steve banned in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Minecraft's very own Steve have been a power house in Super Smash Bro. Ultimate in every way possible

The inclusion of Steve, Minecraft‘s main character in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in late 2020 was a very big deal. Fans of both Minecraft and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate eagerly waited for Steve’s inclusion. He became the first character to represent a Microsoft-owned product in a Nintendo game. With that being said, his arrival also become the turning point for Nintendo’s star-studded game.
He is a very exciting addition to the roster thanks to his unique play style and powerful powers, but his domination on the professional stage has stirred up some debates. Players still see Steve as a dependable character, and the Super Smash Bros. community still heavily relies on him. A new tech known as ‘Phantom MLG’ helps Steve get out of combinations, cancel hit stun, and strike back against opponents who don’t have the same counterplay. Steve becomes a powerhouse after optimization which the major party of the community thinks is very toxic.
There have been calls for banning Steve because of this new tech. The community has been shocked by this ground-breaking technology, and more experts than ever are calling for a ban.

Steve is now banned from Multiple Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament

Steve has an edge using this technique when making an aerial attack. He is able to execute his subsequent strike considerably faster than his opponent after executing a phantom block to deflect the enemy’s blow. As a result, he is able to punish aggressive characters and respond with a powerful combo of his own. Minecraft‘s boy already possesses one of the best recoveries and one of the strongest defences in Smash Bros. He is now practically unstoppable thanks to this extra strategy. In the wake of how game-breaking capabilities of Steve, many tournaments have decided to ban Steve altogether. While this is going on, some tournaments are choosing to forbid the use of the technique that makes the character so OP and contentious rather than outright banning the character.
It is almost certain that the developers won’t be able to keep track of every interaction between stages, characters, and objects in a game with more than 80 characters. Sadly, since Nintendo no longer updates the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and modifies characters, it is unclear what alternative permanent option exists besides banning the character.
