“They got my ni**a speed bro” IShowSpeed joins the CRINGE TikTok NPC livestream trend, fans react

A new NPC trend on Tiktok has taken the internet by storm. Different TikTok content creators are making videos for this trend, and now popular streamer IShowSpeed has also joined in. The term ‘NPC’ stands for ‘Non-Playable Character’ and is a gaming/gen-z slang used to slander those who are not independent in decision-making and are willing to do anything it takes to achieve something and be influenced. The term, in its essence, meant when a character in a video game is not controlled by a player but rather by the gamemaster, or ‘ system’.

The TikTok NPC trend is where we live to stream ourselves while acting like an essential ‘NPC’. The usage of non-sensical terms like ‘thank you for the roses’ as a response to automated gifts that users send digitally over the livestream. Many streamers have hopped on this trend for the clicks, and just recently, none other than the children’s favorite Youtube, IShowSpeed, played a role in this popular trend.

On Wednesday 19th of July, 2023, IShowSpeed went on stream for 3 hours on YouTube. As always, he went through his Discord channel to react to posts and memes with his viewers. This was followed by an Omegle call segment with his fans and later on at 1:48:45, he had a go at the notorious TikTok NPC Challenge.

Initially, he practices on the team with live streaming on TikTok, and immediately after begins life on TikTok as he gains extreme confidence in his ‘NPC skills’. He goes as far as saying phrases like ‘I love you humongous’, ‘Thank you for the cowboy, n***er n***er” and “I love chicken cause I’m black’. He seemed to have enjoyed it a bit too much, as it went on for 7 WHOLE minutes. From the looks of it, IShowSpeed may just be a natural fit for the NPC realm.

The Rise of the NPC TikTok LiveStream

PinkyDoll, a famous TikToker, initially began this trend on Livestream and was previously known for her ‘NPC’ performances on livestreams. She would go on to say phrases like “Ice- cream is so good” and “yes, yes, yes” in response to different gifts she receives. This garnered her views on the internet and became a trend as other influencers labeled it as the ‘NPC LiveStream’ challenge.

Viewers are confused as to how they should be reacting, but it is very eye-catching to see the bridges people are willing to cross for views and fame. In the live stream, viewers can also gift money via TikTok coins, and PinkyDoll is reported to have made $2,000–$3,000 per stream. Despite the controversy, it seems to have a large fanbase vested in it, hence why Speed decided to jump on the wagon.

It was inevitable for this trend to reach the streaming world too. Trying this challenge shows that IShowSpeed is dedicated to delivering anything to entertain his fans. This stream was right after his latest trip to Japan with Kai Cenat as they both filmed exciting streams together on their wild journey.
