Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 developers Insomniac Games confirm the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game is set in the same universe as the web-slinger

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been highly anticipated since the first game in the series came out. Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 was what players expected from a Spider-Man game but never got until then. It is no wonder they were desperate for a sequel. For a while, the spin-off game about Miles Morales was a great way to satisfy players. However, they were still looking for that next full-fledged game they could sink hundreds of hours into.

Insomniac Games has done an incredible job with the game. That is why fans were relieved when it was announced that they were in the same studio working on the upcoming Wolverine game. Insomniac Games has grown tremendously as a studio since Sony acquired it. They have established themselves as a reliable game developer by releasing titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

This is officially titled “Marvel’s Wolverine,” an upcoming video game about the X-men’s poster boy, Wolverine. It was initially announced in 2021 at the PlayStation showcase. The game has not announced an official release date, although a 2024 release is expected. Fans know that the Wolverine game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5.

The only official information we had about the game until now was the announcement at PlayStation Showcase 2021 and the reveal trailer. The musical and stylistic choices of the trailer highly resemble that of the fan-favorite Logan movie. The game’s development has been slowed recently due to the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The fans cannot wait for the game to come out, as the developers have promised an “emotional narrative and cutting-edge gameplay.”

However, we finally have some official information regarding the rumors.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 director Bryan Inithar recently did an interview. It was inevitable that the question regarding the game’s universe would be asked. Intihar replied, “They’re all 1048. I think I got that right.” This could mean tons of Easter eggs from the Spider-Man games could be spotted in the Wolverine game. Players might even witness some popular characters seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man join the X-men universe.
