Moreover, recently on last Sunday, James McCaffrey, the voice actor of Max Payne and Alan Wake 2, passed away after a fierce battle against Myeloma.

The gaming community is recently mourning the death of one of their most cherished video game voice actor, James McCaffrey. James was the voice behind iconic characters like Max Payne and Alex Casey from Alan Wake 2. Furthermore, the voice actor achieved a lot in the gaming industry. However, he passed away on Sunday, 17th December 2023, as per a report from TMZ.

The showbiz news outlet TMZ reported of the voice actor’s death recently. James McCaffrey passed away at the age of 65, battling multiple Myeloma, which is a type of cancer. In addition to portraying Max Payne in the three Remedy game series, McCaffrey also had parts in Alan Wake and Control. McCaffrey most recently provided the voice of Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2, a character whose physical attributes were inspired by Sam Lake from Remedy.

McCaffrey’s representative said in an interview with TMZ,

“One of Di*k Wolf’s proteges, McCaffrey went on to a successful 35-year career in television and film. Trained at the Actor’s Studio, he never lost his love for creating characters; however, his good looks often pushed him toward leading man roles.”

With a diverse TV and movie career, McCaffrey starred in Rescue Me as Jimmy Keefe. James McCaffrey is survived by his daughter, Tiernan, and wife, Rochelle Bostrom. Fans and gamers from around the globe are really mourning McCaffrey’s death and have bid the great voice actor their last goodbyes. Rockstar Games also gave their last regards to the phenomenal voice actor after his passing. This is a dark day for the gaming industry.
