MrBeast posts his first video on X to check the platform’s ad revenue generation
Since acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk has tried reshaping the platform. He has been trying to incentivise content creators to join the platform. He has been testing the platform’s live streaming capabilities by streaming Diablo IV on his personal account. Elon has also announced certain monetization policies for live streamers on X who decide to join the platform.
In his effort to get more creators onto the platform, Elon previously asked MrBeast to start uploading his content to X. MrBeast responded to Elon Musk and told him that his videos cost millions of dollars to produce. Even if the videos could get a billion views on the X platform, this wouldn’t result in enough revenue for him to fund a fraction of the production cost.
The revenue system on X is not on the same level as other platforms. Firstly, creators are only paid when ads are shown to verified Twitter users. This takes away a significant proportion of their potential revenue. Being eligible to earn money on X is also much more complicated and harder than on YouTube.
MrBeast gives in to Elon Musk’s request and posts a video on X
MrBeast took to Twitter to announce that he was curious how much ad revenue a video posted on X would make. Hence, he decided to re-upload an old video to test this theory. ‘Super Official CEO of X’ also promised his viewers that he would share the ad revenue collected next week.
I’m curious how much ad revenue a video on X would make so I’m reuploading this to test it. Will share ad rev next week.

The uploaded video is MrBeast’s ‘$1 vs $100,000,000 Car!’ video. Jimmy uploaded this video to his YouTube channel nearly three months ago. It has amassed over 210M views on the platform since then. MrBeast’s tweet containing this video has also gathered over 40M views in the past twelve hours since the video’s release on X.
This is quite a smart move by the YouTuber. Uploading a three-month-old video on the platform does not take away from views that could have come on YouTube, which would have possibly resulted in higher revenue. It is likely that he also made back a significant chunk of money from YouTube ad revenue that went into producing that video. This makes it a low-risk move for MrBeast.
