Kris (formerly Chris )Tyson announces her new name and pronouns on Twitter
Kris expressed herself publicly for the first time in the podcast with Anthony Padilla and shared her inspiring journey of finding her real self. She told the viewers how all her life she had felt disconnected from the real world, just as she felt disconnected from her real self.
It was only in April 2023 that she announced on Twitter that she had been undergoing HRT, or hormone replacement therapy, for the last two months when a user questioned the change in her appearance. For example, transgender women (assigned male at birth but identifying as female) may undergo HRT to introduce female hormones, such as estrogen, into their bodies to promote feminization.
In taking this bold step, Kris exemplifies the strength it takes to embrace one’s authentic self, even in the face of societal norms and expectations. MrBeast and her friends also hit back at a user who posted a video of how the transition with Kris will affect him by saying that Kris is her friend and things are fine between them, and the transphobia from people directed at Kris is pissing him off.
People’s reaction to the change
It has been a hard couple of months for Kris as she has been brutally trolled for her actions in coming out as transgender. People mercilessly trolled her and verbally abused her. But she never backed down from her decision and went through with it to come out as a new and better person.
This is one of the best examples of mental strength and will give much-needed inspiration to people afraid of taking this step. Many people have since come out in support of her and have showered her with love and strength for being as strong as she has been. Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions, here are some of the tweets:
