Since Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, he has been trying to encourage creators like MrBeast to switch over to posting content on the X platform. He has also been testing the platform’s live-streaming capabilities by streaming Diablo IV on his personal account. Elon has also announced certain monetization policies for live streamers on X who decide to join the platform.

In his effort to get more creators onto the platform, Elon previously asked MrBeast to start uploading his content to X. In response, MrBeast informed Elon Musk that the production of his films required millions of dollars. He wouldn’t be able to cover even a small portion of the production costs even if the films received a billion views on the X platform.

The revenue system on X is not on the same level as other platforms. Firstly, creators are only paid when ads are shown to verified Twitter users. This takes away a significant proportion of their potential revenue. Being eligible to earn money on X is also much more complicated and harder than on YouTube. Regardless, MrBeast changed his mind and uploaded an old YouTube video to his X account.

MrBeast’s post about giving away the money from his X video becomes the most reposted tweet in history

This experiment by MrBeast was fairly successful. He earned over $250,000 from the video. However, he doubted the longevity of this revenue system as many advertisers purchased ads on that tweet due to the attention it was getting. Regardless, MrBeast gave away the money he had earned from this video.

The YouTuber announced that he would give ten random people the $250,000 he made from his X video, each receiving $25,000. To be eligible for the process, they had to repost the tweet announcing the giveaway and follow MrBeast on Twitter in the next 72 hours. It is no surprise that the tweet got a ton of attention.

After the giveaway ended, the tweet had amassed over 2 million likes and 3.9 million retweets on the X platform. Nearly breaking the four million mark, MrBeast announced that the Tweet had become the most retweeted post in the history of X. It overtook a tweet by a Japanese billionaire and art collector, Yusaku Maezawa, whose text was in Japanese and had over 3.8 million retweets.
