OpTic Scump, real name Seth Abner, is one of the world’s most well-known professional Call of Duty players. He is considered to be one of the greatest Call of Duty players of all time. In October 2022, OpTic Scump announced that the Modern Warfare 2 season would be hist last as a professional player. After this announcement, the eSports community was changed.

In a recent interview with eSports journalist Jake Lucky, Jake asked OpTic Scump how it felt after retiring from professional Call of Duty. “Obviously, as an all-time great for Call of Duty, what was retiring like?” Jake asked Scump.

He explained that Scump had solidified himself as one of the greatest of all time when it comes to Call of Duty. “It was very turbulent. We’d been going back and forth for probably a month before it happened on just the logistics of it. Would it make sense, yada yada. “ Scump explained how he and his team contemplated his retirement for a month before going through with it.

“I was basically a little bit fed up, a little annoyed. Just with the daily routine and everything. It was bothering me for a while. People close to me knew that.” Scump explained that the routine he had settled into had been bothering him for quite some time.

“Whenever it finally came down to it, we shot the video in my house. It was kind of eye-opening and surreal. I just didn’t expect it to happen during the year.” OpTic Scump further recounted his experience of making the retirement video and how it impacted him. He also explained how he didn’t expect to retire during the year.

“It was crazy. I don’t really know how to describe it but a whirlwind of chaos.” OpTic Scump explained how chaotic his mindset and his environment was during the entire process. “I’m a little bored now, but I’m less stressed, happier. The decision was right and it was the time.” He further elaborated on how retirement has affected his life. However, Scump maintains that he made the right decision.

“I’m happy that everything happened on good terms with everything. The team’s playing well. I’m happy. The supporters out there have been very, very kind to me. They didn’t take it the way I feared they would take it. It’s been good so far, just a little bored.” Scump expressed his gratitude towards how everything went smoothly and how his fans were supportive of his decision.
