As Overwatch 2’s release dawns upon us, the game has started its Closed Beta for the public and it’s not as exclusive as you might think.
You will be able to avail a Beta key by watching streamers who will be playing the game such as Pokimane, Seagull, and others.
Overwatch 2 Closed Beta Key Drops
Once the game is out, Blizzard Entertainment, the developers of the game along with the original Overwatch, have said that one would need to own the original version of the game in order to play Overwatch 2.
However, for the closed beta, Blizzard will be granting temporary membership to people who don’t own the game on their accounts. The temporary memberships are set to come to an end right before the game’s official release which is set to happen on the 17th of May 2022.

The beta key drop is going to be more time-limited than other drops you may have seen on twitch like Valorant or others. The drop is set to take place from April 27 at 10 AM PT until 6 PM PT while the criteria for you to be able to receive a drop is that your twitch account must be linked with your Battle.net account and you must gather a total watch time of 4 hours during the time limit of the event. You can check if your account is linked or not in your twitch settings and a way to confirm the same is when you are watching a stream, the website will say “Drops Enabled” under it.
What will the Beta include?
It’s a natural question that may arise when you think about it. The beta will mostly be similar to the Alpha that took place some time ago with the exception of the new Hero Sojourn being added to this version along with reworked versions of Orisa and Doomfist. Blizzard hasn’t been very clear if we’ll get to see other new heroes during the beta. However, Blizzard might hold onto them just a little bit longer for future betas.
