Palworld is the latest action-adventure survival game developed by the Japanese developers Pocket Pair Studios. The Palworld universe is scattered with animal-like creatures called Pals. You can fight and capture these Pals to build your base, traverse the terrain, and combat. These Pals often use heavy artillery at their disposal. Thus, the game is being dubbed “Pokémon with guns.”

Palworld was released on 19 January 2024 for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. It is also available via the Xbox Game Pass. The game shattered multiple records only within a day of its release. It sold over a million copies within the first eight hours of its launch. Within 24 hours, it had doubled that sales figure.

The game was the most-played game on the day of its release and the top-selling game on the Steam platform. In fact, the game’s servers have struggled to keep up with its success. The developers even had to have an emergency meeting with Epic Games due to servers being unable to take the high player count load.

PalWorld has become the most-played game on Steam, with over 1.7 million players.

The official account of the Game Awards recently posted a list of games with the biggest peak concurrent active player base in the history of the gaming platform Steam. Palworld broke into the top 10, placing sixth on the list with over a million concurrent players, beating out games such as Elden Ring and Hogarts Legacy.

However, the game’s success has not been slowed since its launch. The game recently broke another concurrent player record with over 1.7 million players concurrent players. PalWorld towered over the second and third-place finishers, Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, with 800,000 and 600,000 active players, respectively.

This has also bumped up the position of the game on the list curated by the Game Awards. PalWorld now places in the top 3 in games with the biggest peak concurrent audience in the history of Steam. It is narrowly beaten out by Counter-Strike Global Offensive, which once reached the peak of 1.8 million concurrent players. PUBG still sits comfortably at the top with over 3.3 million active players during the game’s heyday.
