In a surprising revelation made by the official website of Road to Asian Games, it was informed to the players that PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 will apparently would not played in a battle-royale mode which means the core element of shooting and eliminating enemies would be evaded at the 19th Asian Games 2022.

Last September, the Olympic Council of Asia had announced that PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 will be played as a medal eSports event along with 7 other titles would be played at 19th Asian Games that is going to be held in Shangzhou, China. As teams started preparing for the big event, it was announced that a new version of the game will be played at the Asian Games.

PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 to evade from the violent battle-royale mode

Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds Mobile or popularly known as PUBG Mobile is a battle-royale game where usually 100 players are dropped in a battleground and are left to defeat each other iwith the help of in-game weapons and be the last one standing to claim the chicken dinner.

This battle-royale mode, according to some critics insinuates violence which led to the game facing a permanent ban in several countries. However, it has now been announced that PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 will not be played in a battle-royale mode which means players will not be able to engage in a person-to-person shooting.

Asian Esports Federation (AESF) which is a recognized body by the Olympic Council of Asia confirmed through their newly launched website, Road to Asian Games that PUBG Mobile teams will engage in target shooting and racing missions which means that players will not pick up weapons to defeat each other.

It was further explained by the organization that each game of PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 will have four teams of four players, each competing across multiple stages. In each stage, players will be provided with missions of target shooting followed by a vehicle drive to the finish line. The rankings of each team will be decided based on which team reaches the finish line first after completing the shooting missions.

It was previously revealed by Krafton that a special Asian Games version is in development for PUBG Mobile which will bring the most unique experience for the players. Few months ago, South Korean website reported that players won’t be allowed to shoot each other as it might “harm the harmony” between the countries.

The 19th Asian Games are scheduled to be hosted in the moth of September this year and the fate of Indian players in PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2022 still lies hanging on a thread as the authorities are yet to give their nods. Nevertheless, it would be quite intriguing to see how these teams perform in this “new” battle-royale.
