PUBG Mobile surpasses $8 billion lifetime revenue
According to the latest from Sensor Tower, an analytics website that tracks the daily revenue growth of different games and applications, PUBG Mobile has crossed $8 billion in lifetime player spending in Google Play Store and App Store. However, it still lacks behind the MOBA game Honor of Kings.
The popularity of PUBG Mobile is unfathomable as the battle-royale game recently celebrated its 4 year anniversary. Released in 2018, the game has been garnering much appreciation with negligible drawbacks due to its thriving eSports scenario as well as the frequently released patches. The other titles to hit the $8 billion mark are-
- Honor of Kings
- Monster Strike
- Clash of Clans
- Super Cell
Most of the revenue was generated during the first quarter of 2022 as the game accumulated $650 million in the quarter. However, if compared to the previous figures, the revenue has slightly dropped. A large chunk of the revenue came from China, as the country alone contributed $4.7 billion or 57% player spending.
The second highest market for the game was in USA that recorded more than 11% of player spending. Another thing worth noting here is that App Store revenue was much higher compared to the Google Play Store in China but in rest of the countries, the revenue in both the platforms was balanced.
PUBG Mobile still remains one of the top grossing games worldwide even though the revenue growth has been a little slower compared to before. Just behind this battle-royale stands Genshin Impact that is considered to be one f the most successful role playing games ever.
