Rockstar Games addresses the “Extreme Exploit” hacking scheme issue in GTA Online

It has been a rough couple of days for Grand Theft Auto Online players. Some hackers are using a new hacking scheme which was named “Extreme Exploit” to tamper with other players’ stats. This tampering is causing the permanent account ban of players. It was suggested to not play GTA Online without any firewall or just avoid playing at all. But better late than never, Rockstar Games has finally revealed that they are aware of the current issue.

Mod menus have long been a problem with GTA Online. They essentially provide cheaters with a variety of extra options. Although they can annoy other players by instantly murdering them or changing them into other items, players primarily employ them to get around GTA Online’s microtransactions. Free mod menus are simpler to find and more likely to result in a ban, while premium choices are typically more difficult to locate. Since the 2013 introduction of GTA Online, Rockstar Games has filed lawsuits against several distributors of mod menus.

A few days ago popular Grand Theft Auto insider Tez2, posted on his Twitter handle that hackers are using a new hacking scheme. They were changing other players’ stats, forcing the game to ban these players.

A couple of days later, Rockstar Games‘ technical support account posted on Twitter that they will be resolving this serious issue in the upcoming security-related GTA Online update.

They have urged anyone who has been impacted to get in touch with them through the RSG Support page and describe their experience for the time being.

These exploits, according to the research, include partial remote code execution, which enables cheaters and hackers to remotely delete, alter, or add users’ data and accounts. These exploits will look like this in the game:
  • Account > Rank
  • Account > Corrupt Account
  • Account> Remove Money
  • Account > Reset Mission Cooldowns
  • Account > Badsport
  • Account > Unlocks
  • Account > Give Money (up to $15 million a time)
