Skyesports all set to start India’s first Valorant LAN!
Skyesports is having India’s first ever Valorant LAN in the city of Mumbai, the same place where Riot games have set up their servers for the game. The LAN is set to be the first of multiple more LANs that are yet to come in the Souvenir series which will be held in cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and more!
Skyesports is calling this a start to a new legacy and it seems like much more than that. These events will go a long way in promoting eSports in India to the common folk.
Skyesports has been able to bag AMD as the title sponsor for the event along with Logitech as the Gaming Partner, Croma as the Rig Partner, and Rooter as the exclusive broadcasting partner for the event.
Teams Participating
The event is going to have a total of 4 teams participating in the event. The names of the teams that will be participating are as follows :
- Global eSports(India)
- Velocity Gaming(India)
- Team Snakes(Pakistan)
- Enigma Gaming(India)
3 out of 4 of the listed teams are going to be present at the venue who will literally be facing off against each other while Team Snakes will be participating from their home country of Pakistan due to Visa Issues.
The teams received invites based on their performances in previous Skyesports tournaments
Format of the tournament
The tournament will be in a single Round Robin format meaning each team will face off against each other once in a Best of Three format. In the end, the top two teams from the Round Robin Stage will face off against each other in a Best of 5 for bragging rights along with the biggest share of the $10,000 prize pool.
Live audience at the venue
A few superfans will be given the privilege of watching their favorite teams live in action before their own eyes at the undisclosed venue at Mumbai so be on the lookout on your favorite team’s socials and you might be one of the selected fans! The event will be held at Mumbai and the matches are set to begin from 4 PM in the evenings so make sure you settle down with your favorite snacks for the stream because you will NOT want to be leaving your seat once the matches begin.
The Audience will also be treated to a Streamers Showdown on the 2nd of May 2022 for extra entertainment so keep your eyes peeled for details on Skyesports’ social handles for updates!
However, for the people who won’t be able to bag a ticket to the venue, don’t fret for the event will also be livestreamed on Skyesports’ channel over on Rooter and also on their YouTube.
Skyesports’ Founder speaks up
Shiva Nandy, the CEO and founder of Skyesports, said, “After a gap of more than two years, we are finally marking a return to LAN events with VALORANT’s first-ever offline competition in India. The first edition of the AMD Skyesports Souvenir in Mumbai is set to be a spectacle like you’ve never seen before. This is just the beginning, though. We have a lot in store throughout the year with more LAN events across different games including some first-party tournaments like the VCT Stage 2 Challengers South Asia, which is being hosted by Skyesports.”
Apart from Mr. Nandy, Sukamal Pegu, the Publishing Leader for India and South Asia at Riot Games also spoke highly of the event by saying “It has been very heartening to see the support from the South Asian community towards VALORANT esports over the past two years. It was time to treat them with an offline event as a LAN tournament provides a different level of competition and intensity. I am thrilled to see Skyesports make this a reality with the AMD Skyesports Souvenir in Mumbai.”
With that, there is no doubt that the AMD Skyesports Souvenir in Mumbai is gaining its fair share of hype and it is definitely going to live up to the hype that has been created and we are sure, you, the reader, are just as excited as us for the event to begin.
