Bethesda Softworks has recently announced a new launch date for their highly anticipated sci-fi role-playing game, Starfield. Starfield has been development in collaboration with Microsoft. The game takes inspiration from Bethesda’s own Elder Scrolls,. It has been in development since 2013 while being originally announced in 2018. The game’s initial release date was scheduled for November 11, 2022. It was later pushed back to the first half of 2023. However, Bethesda has now revealed that the new release date for Starfield will be September 6.

Starfield is an ambitious RPG that will offer players a vast and immersive experience. Players will have the opportunity to explore over 100 star systems and more than 1,000 planets. This gives Starfield a massive scope similar to games like No Man’s Sky. The game’s gameplay and structure draw heavily from The Elder Scrolls. The game will feature a silent protagonist and first-person conversations will be a prominent feature.

Starfield director, Todd Howard, stated in the launch date announcement video that the team has put a lot of effort into developing Starfield. He also stated that the effort is much larger than he had anticipated. “We have poured ourselves into this game, and even I’m surprised how much we can pour,” says Howard. “It is large.”

There will be a Starfield Direct showcase on June 11. During this direct, Bethesda will reveal more information about the game’s world, narrative, and characters. Todd Howard has also promised that Starfield has many of the hallmarks that players would expect from a Bethesda game. However, it also manages to offer a unique experience that sets it apart.

“We know you’ve waited a long time to play something new from us. Believe it or not, we’re kind of the same. We miss it. We can’t wait for you all to play it,” added Howard.

Starfield will be available on Windows PC and Xbox Series X at launch and will be available on Game Pass on the day of its release. Bethesda is excited for players to experience the game and the vast worlds they’ve built.
