Stinger is set to receive nerf in the upcoming patch 6.02 in Valorant
Stinger currently is the staple pick for the budget rounds in Valorant.

Valorant currently is in its most balanced patch. No agent is overpowering the meta and all agents have their niches. But there’s one thing that’s overpowering the game. It’s not an agent but it’s a weapon. Stinger has been a meta weapon for a while in Valorant. Players from every elos are using this weapon that can shred enemies in a blink of an eye in close range. In mid-ranges, You just need to hit the headshot first and you are good to go.
Stinger has been always in the game but saw very limited use. But in mid-2022, some pro players and high-ranking players started using stingers in half-buy rounds. Devs also buffed this weapon in patch 5.06. But when devs decided to nerf specter in patch 5.12, the majority of players started using stinger. Stinger cost only 950 creds and is outperforming Spectre, which costs 1600 creds. So obviously it’s the straight-up better option.
Seeing how overpowered this weapon is currently devs are toning down the stinger in the upcoming patch 6.02.

End of Stinger meta in Valorant?

Valorant posted on Twitter that they are nerfing stinger in the upcoming patch. They reported that the weapon was overpowered for what it cost. So they are increasing its price and changing its damage output. Devs said-
"After a few weeks of tracking, we're upping the cost of the Stinger and adjusting the damage fall-off in time for Patch 6.02. We feel the Stinger is over-performing at its price point, especially in the early rounds, and lacks the right economic tradeoffs."
Devs are increasing the stinger’s cost from 950 to 1100. For the damage changes, currently, it deals 27 damage per bullet in between 0-20m; and 25 damage per bullet in the 20m+ range. They are increasing its damage fall off. After the patch, it will deal 27 damage per bullet in between 0-15m; and 23 damage per bullet if the target is 15m+ away.
As informed earlier, 6,02 PBE was canceled due to some issues. So, devs wanted to give a heads-up to VCT competitors as soon as possible before VCT LOCK//IN. It’s not new in Valorant that a weapon rises in the meta and becomes a headache for some players. In late 2020 and early 2021, bucky’s right-click was very powerful and can just shoot down enemies in slightly mid-range and devs have to nerf him. And, In mid-2021, Judge started decimating players. They all cost less and were very overpowered for their price range.
Community’s reaction to the upcoming Stinger nerf

Overdone. Just increase the price a little to make force buying harder.

Nerfs to recoil/ damage drop off usually makes guns useless (ares, bucky)
