Despite other streamers receiving DMCA strikes over streaming TV episodes, Twitch star Felix ‘xQc‘ Lengyel has stated that his MasterChef streams may be permitted to continue.
Some of Twitch’s greatest celebrities have switched to a fresh new meta in recent weeks, where they watch full-length TV series and movies with their audience instead of the typical YouTube videos and Twitch bits.
It’s understandably divided Twitch users’ opinions, with some streamers afraid that they’re playing a risky game in terms of DMCA lawsuits and possibly advertising backlash against the platform.
Pokimane and HasanAbi have both been affected by the ‘meta,’ with Poki obtaining a 48-hour suspension for watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and Hasan receiving a DMCA complaint about watching MasterChef.
However, xQc, who recently suggested future cooperation with MasterChef presenter Gordon Ramsay following their Twitter feud, may have the means to keep watching the cooking show.

During his January 8 show, the Canadian was discussing his fellow streamers’ recent strikes and bans when he provided followers with an inside look at how he might be able to escape punishment in the future.
The previous Overwatch star didn’t say much else about the ongoing negotiations but did say it will take some time to resolve. Given that xQc’s streams typically attract over 100k people, allowing him to stream the show could bring in a large new audience. However, we’ll have to wait and watch how things play out.
The Twitch meta is always evolving, and the most recent trend has been reacting to live TV broadcasts and movies. Other top broadcasters who jumped on the bandwagon, such as Pokimane and Hasanabi, have been slapped with bans and DMCA strikes as a result of the new meta.
Many people have been put off by the bans and strikes, but xQc has decided to continue his TV programme reaction content.
Sodapoppin, a Twitch streamer, went off on xQc after realising that he’s still streaming copyrighted video and feels he’s just seeking to be banned so he can retire.
