“TheTrueGeordie” banned from Twitch for making Islamophobic remarks, Andrew Tate and others react

Twitch streamer and podcaster “TheTrueGeordie” has been banned from the platform effective yesterday. Geordie was banned from the platform following some comments he made on popular boxer and celebrity Andrew Tate, which were deemed ‘Islamophobic’, leading to this decision.

While replying to a comment about whether he will fight Andrew Tate, he replied by saying “I would gladly blow myself up if I could take that sh*tbag with us. If he really wants to prove it, do the right thing.” This particular comment was made by Geordie as a response to his co-host’s joke about him not winning against Tate as “God is on his side”.

Andrew Tate was recently in the news as he announced his conversion to Islam. The comment made by Geordie’s co-host was made with regard to this premise. When Geordie joked about Tate blowing himself up to prove his faith, it certainly didn’t sit well with the audience, who called him out and canceled him for the comments he made. His audience even criticized him of being more thoughtful of what he says, considering his fan base and the sheer amount of people who listen to him. After the occurrence of this incident on November 7, it led to a lot of problems for Geordie. Many of the companies working with him pulled out, most notably “Gymshark”, and of course, the platform ban, which is a heavy issue as he streams almost daily for his football show “The Kick Off”.

As expected, fans seem to be quite pleased with this decision, stating that it was a well-deserved ban that he was looking at.

Andrew Tate Responds

The clip spread like wildfire on the internet, so it was not long before it reached Andrew Tate himself. Tate has also replied to his comment in a not very subtle way.

“There are very few people I personally dislike, one of them is True Geordie. He is very insulting, fat, vulgar, he’s a d***head and an unlikeable person. He’s not very smart, he’s stupid. Now after me converting to Islam, he made a piece on one of his podcasts saying I’m not true in my conversion, and then insulted all Muslims. Making f**king racist comments about an entire religion as if that’s somehow funny. Let me tell you something my friend, and True Geordie if you are watching this, this is a message directly to you. There are certain times in life when you need to know when to shut the f**k up.”

After facing backlash, Geordie came out and released a 20 minute apology, mentioning how his actions were wrong.

He spoke about how making a joke like that “was one of those off-the-cuff remarks I made with a total lack of thought, and I used an unrealistic stereotype to take aim at someone who seriously dislikes me. Obviously I don’t believe that’s what Muslims actually do. It was a very stupid thing to say. It was an idiotic joke – one I’m sorry,” he added. It’s not clearly mentioned as to when he would be unbanned from the platform, but as of now his account remains suspended.
