Ascent Valorant

Valorant’s Episode 5 Act 3 is still in its initial stages, and the players are still trying to find out the new best agents to run on every map after Valorant shifted the meta once again by throwing the new agent Harbor into the mix.

This time around though, the changes are quite significant, more so because it is there is nothing consolidated about the best agents to pick up for every map, and added to that, the best agents to pair with Harbor for maximum benefit.

To have a greater impact on the gameplay, it is more important to realize that all agents cannot be run on all the maps, and similarly, Harbor might have to be dropped in certain maps where he might not have a greater impact or would be holding his team back. The best action then is to drop him from the team composition. This is more like a guide to finding out the top 3 maps where you should avoid picking Harbor.

Fracture

Fracture

At this point, only Breach and Viper are somewhat comfortably placed when it comes to Fracture. And Harbor is an especially bad pick for this round since his utility allows him to cover up large spaces but there are not too many of those in Fracture. Alternatively, he might just end up blocking a Breach flash or allow the enemy to camp in his own smoke, making it far more difficult to take site and control the entire area. Viper as an alternate not only has her poison orbs but also her wall does everything that a Harbor wall does and much better on Fracture, making her the go-to controller in this map.

Icebox

Icebox is confusing for Harbor and there are no two ways about it. Yes, Harbor can smoke off crucial areas in the map, but if run properly, a dual controller setup of Omen and Viper can also do the same. Additionally, Viper’s ultimate is much more useful for spike plants and defuses, and well as her Snakebite lineups are much more effective, once again edging over Harbor to take control of this map.

Haven

Haven

Given how expansive Haven is, the first idea would definitely be to run a Harbor to get better control of the sites. However, once the players realize that Harbor’s abilities can never quite fully smoke off all of the crucial areas, and in turn might allow the enemies to push through, Astra as the alternate or even Brimstone becomes a much better option. For one, Brim can set down three of his smokes at once, has a molly, and his ultimate can call for an orbital strike anytime anywhere on the map, making him the old guard on this map.

However, this does not mean you should not try Harbor on these maps. Harbor has a well-rounded kit that can help in almost all maps, however, in solo queue, there are better controllers to pick for greater effect within the game.
