Twitch is one of the biggest streaming networks available at the moment. Its popularity keeps growing every day as more and more people take up streaming as a career choice. This platform launched some of the biggest names in the community, with the likes of Ninja, xQc, Ludwig, and many more. Twitch hosts various content categories, from gaming to music, and even IRL streams where streamers share their daily lives with their viewers. Even with so much content viewers can get from accessing Twitch, one aspect that most people dislike is the Twitch pre-roll ads.

The new Twitch CEO, Dan Clancy, recently revealed that they are trying to improve the user experience. He recently made an appearance on stream and talked about how they are making changes and trying to improve the platform in general. He emphasized how they are trying to “lean away” from pre-roll ads in the coming days.

In a recent interview with Kahlief Adams, aka SpawnOnMe, the new Twitch CEO, Dan Clancy, talked about the possibility of removing pre-roll ads. He goes on to mention that “since I look at a lot of channels, as opposed to the small amount I’m subscribed to, I see a lot of ads because I’m moving around. In fact, I brought up your channel as we were going on. Because I thought let’s have that live so I can see chat, and I saw an ad.”

Clancy goes on to express his view about how pre-roll ads hinder the user experience, saying, “I don’t think that is the right experience when you’re trying to discover new content. When you are looking and are like, Oh, let me check this out, and you are hit with an ad, that inhibits you from going and browsing new stuff.”

He goes on to mention that they are looking into the matter and trying to improve or make some new adjustments. Clancy said, “We currently have some tests going, and we’ll be rolling out some stuff soon that really leans away from pre-roll ads when people are in discovery mode.”

Perhaps we may don’t have to wait too long for the Twitch hierarchy to employ changes to the pre-roll ads. While it may seem a hindrance to the viewer who is just browsing from one channel to the other these ads provide a large chunk of the earning to the platform.
