On June 6, 2023, Team Vitality’s star player, Karl “Twisten” Aenbrener, passed away at the very young age of 19. He contributed to Team Vitality’s qualifying for the VCT EMEA playoffs and had everything that a duelist needed. It’s very saddening news that the young soul left the world too soon. The Valorant community paid tribute to Twisten all over the social media platform. His demise had been unfortunate for the Valorant community. But Twisten’s pledge is still being honored!

Amidst this, popular Youtuber and Valorant analyst Ryan Horton suggested doing something to honor Twitsen. He suggested something Twitsten did during VCT LOCK//IN. Twisten had pledged to donate €25, or about $27, for every Shorty kill during VCT LOCK//IN. And VCT commentator & analyst Ryan ‘RyanCentral’ Horton has chosen to honor this pledge of the late player. To this suggestion, Team Liquid’s ex-coach Sliggy came forward and promised to donate $25 for every shorty kill at VCT Masters Tokyo and VCT Champions 2023.

The Valorant community has come forward to honor this pledge made by Twitter. Riot Games is happy to see that the game they created has developed into a heartwarming community. Many figures in the VCT community have decided to pledge the same promise as Twisten did for LOCK//IN. They’ll follow this pledge throughout the Masters Tokyo.

Twisten’s aggressive gameplay and clutching skills were well-known. Team Vitality’s roster considered him a key member. The whole Valorant community is coming together in solidarity to ensure that Twisten will always be remembered in the wake of his uneventful passing. And they are honoring his legacy. RyanCentral gave the initial idea of honoring the pledge he made during LOCK/IN of donating money per Shorty kill. Many Valorant pros have made the same pledge made by Twisten. This shows how much chivalry the Valorant community has.

Following Sliggy’s tweet, Cloud 9’s ex-IGL Vanity also revealed that he would be donating $25 to a mental health charity for every shorty kill at upcoming VCT international tournaments. M80’s CEO, Marco Mereu, also stepped forward and revealed that M80 would be donating 100 dollars for every shorty kill in both the international events and the Ascension tournament. That’s a step above what the actual Pledge was, and fans can’t get any happier.

After seeing all the overwhelming responses, Ryan ‘RyanCentral’ Horton has revealed that the page for “Twisten Shorty Drive” is now live. So every player can do their part through this page.

It is very heartwarming to see Valorant Pros coming together to honor Twisten in the same way he started it. This shows how mature and heartwarming the whole Valorant community is. Although close ones are still pouring for Twisten’s loss, they can rest easy seeing the support Twisten is getting. Every player is working towards donating to the Twisten Shorty Drive campaign, and the community is bustling with positivity.
