Valorant will soon welcome the sixth Episode and a fresh Act in its seasonal content timeline. Apart from the usual new Act features, the latest iteration is also expected to bring influential content updates, further meta changes, new tactical features, and more. With only a few weeks left before its commencement, fans will likely participate in major anticipation regarding what’s coming in the next Episode.

Split, one of the first maps in Valorant, was a fan favorite but was removed from the map pool in June to make room for Pearl due to the game’s seven-map limitation. The developers had promised that Split would return after some design tweaks, but did not provide an estimated time of arrival. The community was disappointed by Split’s removal and has been eagerly awaiting its return. In the introduction of Pearl in patch 5.0 (Episode 5), the developers confirmed that Split would be returning to the map pool, but did not provide a specific date. Players have been eagerly anticipating the return of Split to the map pool.

When a new Episode begins in Valorant, all players’ competitive ranks are reset. This means that with the upcoming Episode 6 Act 1, players’ MMR (match-making rating) will be significantly affected. At the start of the new Episode, players will need to complete five matches in order to unlock their competitive rank, rather than the usual one match required at the start of a new Act. The game’s ranking system will then assign a rank based on players’ performance and their previous MMR. It is common for players to be assigned a few ranks lower than their previous rank at the start of a new Episode.

Valorant’s upcoming patch 6.0 is expected to bring significant changes to the game, including the implementation of an automatic smurf-detection system that has been trialed in North America. In addition to this, players can expect new Agent buffs and nerfs, gameplay updates, map changes, and quality of life improvements. While the Valorant team at Riot Games is currently on a winter break until the end of 2022, no official announcements about the new Episode or Act are expected until next year. Players will have to wait a little longer for more information about what the new Episode will bring.
