Former Valorant Velocity coach Sleepy joins Paper Rex as Head of eSports gaming

Former Valorant Velocity coach Sleepy joins Paper Rex as Head of eSports gaming

Paper Rex

The Valorant competitive roster is shaping up differently this pre-season, with players, coaches, and teams switching roles, creating a general hiatus within the community. This time around, ex Velocity coach, Sleepy, has decided to join the Paper Rex team, after the organization could not secure a place in the partnership program for VCT Pacific League 2023.

However, Sleepy will not join Paper Rex directly as a coach, but as the Head of Esports gaming. Although this decision has not been explained by either Sleepy or the franchise, fans are of the opinion that Sleepy wanted to take on a more administrative role within the Valorant competitive scene, leading to him accepting this new offer.

This leaves Velocity without a coach, and in the off-season, Velocity is searching for a new head coach. While several streamers have been tipped for the role, nothing official has so far been announced from the Velocity gaming side. This news came as a surprise for Velocity fans since Sleepy had pledged his allegiance to the team even a few days ago. This decision, therefore, has not been well received by the fans with an overwhelming response from the community.

Former Kru sports professional retires from competitive Valorant to pursue Engineering

Kru Esports

Valorant KRU Sports professional, Delz1k has decided to step down and retire from the competitive Valorant arena in order to pursue engineering. This news comes before VCT 2023, giving the team enough time to search for a replacement until the tournament kicks off in February 2023. Delz1k’s retirement has sent ripples through the Valorant community since he made the decision to retire at only 22 years of age, which is relatively early in the Valorant arena.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed by either the franchise or the player, this news comes from the extremely reliable Lembo, who is a fellow professional himself. Delz1k was an integral part of the team that went up against the likes of OpTic Gaming in Masters Copenhagen 2022 and FPX during VCT Istanbul.

Delz1k usually runs with the controller agents and is a Viper main, although that does not mean he cannot run other agents. On Icebox especially, with a dual controller setup, he can easily run a Viper or an Omen as his team requires. It will be interesting to find out who replaces Delz1g in the roster, and if the replacement is directly going into the controller category.
