Valorant Update 7.07 Patch Notes & Changes

Competitive Changes

Patch 7.06 brought with it rank restrictions made to 5-stacks. This was implemented to prevent illegitimate boosting to higher ranks like Radiant. These restrictions made it such that Ascendant players could not queue with players ranked gold or below when it came to ranked mode.

Riot Games later said that they believe being able to play with your friends is more important to the game’s health than countering the small population of players that exploit this method. They also mentioned they are working on a long-term solution to prevent this exploit that allows players to queue with friends.

Map Updates

On the map Haven, destructible door panels exist at Mid-Doors/Garage. Riot Games has updated the destruction VFX for these destructible door panels when they are destroyed. This is done so as to make it easier for players to see through it as the doors fall away. You will better know where to fire to secure those wall-bang kills.

Performance Updates

Some performance updates have been made to performance-optimize Valorant on systems that run discrete Intel GPUs. Riot Games has enabled multithreaded rendering for such builds. The game also requires fewer CPU cores to run from now on.

Bug Fixes

As you may know, Valorant currently only supports stereo and mono sound outputs. In Patch 7.06, Valorant fixed a bug that allowed the game to output surround sound when certain conditions were met. However, this surround mix was untested and unsupported. The developers have now brought about some new changes.

  • Riot Games has offered an HRTF setting to simulate surround sound on headphones. However, they have mentioned not combining this HRTF setting in the game with other surround sound virtualization software simultaneously since it will result in double processing.
  • Other surround sound virtualization software cannot derive surround sound information from the stereo mix.

Agent Changes

  • Cypher
    • Neutral Theft ability (X by default) completes even if Cypher dies after casting it.
    • An issue where you would remain blinded if spectating a flash through Cypher’s Spycam (E by default) as the round ended has been fixed/
  • Gekko
    • Dizzy (E by default) enemy detection range is now correctly reduced while inside of Viper’s Pit ability (X by default).

Premier Changes

  • An issue with the attacker team taking priority over the defender team in overtime mode has been fixed.
  • A bug where a second timer bar would appear after the “Choose Side” vote had already ended has been fixed.
  • A bug where certain scenarios would cause subsequent Overtime Priority Votes to occur in the following round has been patched.

The new Valorant Update 7.07 has brought out many quality-of-life changes that will improve the gameplay experience for everyone. Playing with pre-fixed teams and your friends is a huge part of the game and makes it much more fun. It is also nice to see that Riot Games has once again allowed players to queue with their friends in their competitive mode easily.
